Potential SNP voters thinking of flirting with Lib Dems. Don't.
This just happened in an Aberdeen by-election:
Bridge of Don (Aberdeen) first preferences:
CON: 36.2% (+10.3) SNP: 35.0% (+0.9) LDEM: 18.1% (+8.8) LAB: 5.9% (-5.2) GRN: 2.7% (+2.7) UKIP: 1.1% (+1.1) IND: 0.8% (-0.1) RED: 0.2% (+0.2)

Normally I wouldn't advocate tactical voting, I'm a believe in people voting for the parties they support - and there's all sorts of - vote Lib Dem end up with coalition Tories kind of crud (ie vote to get rid of tuition fees only to have the party you voted for increase them), however I'd argue the circumstances are unique, in that
one) Remain/Leave cuts across party lines and helps unify tactical voting
two) Labour/Lib Dem/SNP cannot win an outright majority, best can hope for is a hung Parliament or coalition, so you are voting for a coalition most likely with the party of your choice
three) The Johnson /Trumpian government is so bad, it must be stopped as a matter of priority as they are proto-fascist.
I use fascism in its literal form, ie (from Wikipedia - a form of far right-wing, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition...) and proto meaning - advocating/supporting but not yet indulging in. I'd argue that by the "there will be riots" they are inciting violence, and must be considered proto-fascist.

In other news Boris telling porkies again:
"O'Neill says the government documents submitted to court state the Prime Minister will send a letter asking for an extension no later than October 19th."

I am not sure it means too much for the eventual outcome of leaving the EU on 31st. It's possibly why he has a whistle stop tour of Europe as he is looking for a pal in the EU. Doesn't he just need one EU country to veto the extension? In which case maybe he is hoping we are out by default

Those numbers don't add up Chris. There must be a minus missing somewhere. They can't all have gained that much! G

Agree with JDA several pages back that the vast majority do not understand and even we here may only understand a snippet as we piggy back off each other's knowledge. Tory are doing sweetners at the moment to get the public on their side with promises of 40 new hospitals with 13 billion (really it is six hospitals and maybe not even that). Throw large amounts of money that the majority of people do not understand and see a good number go "ooooh ahhhh".....

Govt just agreed in court that they cannot "frustrate" the Benn act and from my understanding they've agreed they have to comply and request an extension.
So definitely not leaving 31st Oct.
Phew!

But does suggest that GE is definitely going to happen in Nov and Team BJ are gambling on him not being blamed for extension.
