Countries that have a no-man's land border:
Guantanamo Bay (US) - Cuba
Israel - Jordan
South Korean - North Korea
USA - Mexico (some parts, Tijuana etc.)
Yemen - Saudi Arabia
err...

So, great idea for Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. After over 20 years of reduced tensions in Ireland, well done the current Tory nutters for suggesting a return to hard separation. Grrr.

To be fair to them, it does mean they have avoided checks taking place on the irish border which is what they said they would do.

It's border infrastructure, just not at the border. What could possibly go wrong, especially for all those living in the proposed demilitarised zone?

This idea came up ages ago and was roundly laughed at then too.

They seem to be floating ideas semi publicly...to see what happens. They are saying one thing that is true. When we leave, because we are, there will be a border even if that border constitutes a load of paper.work.

Delay to Jan is almost certainly going to happen. If/when a GE happens then who can say what will happen, but I am more hopeful than for a long time that Brexit will be cancelled. Just to counter WS's pessimism! ;-)

I honestly have no idea what's going to happen anymore. I don't think anyone does.

The legal team in the office were confidently predicting the supreme Court would go with the government even as Lady Hale started reading the judgment 'Well of course they're going to find it's justiciable, but there's going to be a "However" in a minute, just wait.... Oh.'

I dreamt de Pfeffel had resigned last night, you never know, prophetic dreams wouldn't be the most unlikely bit of this whole debacle.

Of course, this border proposal isn't serious. They're stupid but not that stupid. No, the point of this is so that when the EU reject it, as they must, then the finger of blame can be pointed at them as being unreasonable. All about blame-apportionment, as usual, not actually attempting to resolve an issue.
