Think it eased after about 10 days. I'm running "normally" (whatever that means - i.e. always with aches, pains and niggles, but nothing so jarring that I have to stop, limp, hobble or am incapacitated when I get home and recover!) again.
This time it was inside of arch, middle, not towards heel and it was really tender even to rub initially.
For those suffering and for my own notes, I think changes which may have been cause were: * all day walking and standing in boots I don't normally wear at cross country marshalling * more walking and standing in work shoes / boots that I don't normally wear. * intervals and sprinting a bit quicker than I have done in a while in a club intervals session (?! :-O) * I had a blister from some new Inov-8 X-talons. Very unusual for me to get a blister, but did I then fiddle around with fit and tightness or something?
Anyhoo, fixed in 10 days isn't too bad. What I did (no idea which of these aided it most or even at all) * 8 days no running - had family visiting so just used that as the excuse * Not wearing the casual boots and slippers in which I felt the arch to be most tender (socks in house) * Foam roller, spiky ball and knuckle massage of sole, with deep heat cream sometimes. * A couple of days of ibuprofen at the start (didn't want to mask the pain, but sometimes they say removing the pain can remove the cause, or secondary movement changes that can exacerbate?) * Introducing some calf stretching (which I'd been avoiding because of calf tear on other leg, ironically!)
Anyhoo, in case it helps for anyone else. G

I find it so temperamental, I think that is the worst bit. If I were in agony, I'd rest. But I'm not, so I don't.
Last week, I did a fast run on hard ground on Tuesday, followed by road run then sprnts at Club on Weds. Thursday it was very sore. No improvement over Friday and Saturday to the point I wondered if I should do my planned weekend long race on Sunday.
Did the race anyway - 25 miles, mixed terrain.
Sore after (to be expected) but then fine on Monday. Back to background level of annoyance.
Glad you are feeling improved G.

Yeah cackle, agree. Human body is a wonderful, but at times, frustrating machine! Good luck with managing the PF. G

Thanks. I find it makes a massive difference if I don't go barefoot in the house. Granny slippers ahoy!

Lots of calf stretching seems to have helped mine. I'm taking things easy with just run walking at the moment and building it up. 3 mins run/ 1 min walk (This is week 3 - adding a minute a week). Feels very slow recovery but having been out since Xmas - what's another few weeks? Managing to do parkrun as a walk/run in quite a respectable time - 33:12 last week so quite happy with that. It's much better when running parkrun (school fields and trail) rather than the tarmac I ran on yesterday. Agree with you, LD about not going barefoot.

It's weird Linds. I usually do wear slippers (Ugg boot type things - need warm in a farmhouse in Scotland!) but they were definitely aggravating things, so had to go socks only.
The list of "treatments" from many fetchies, include contradictory actions - go barefoot, don't go barefoot, use an arch support, don't use arch support etc! I suspect what we call PF is a range of different conditions and hence causes and treatments are different. It's a mystery! I just go with try everything and hope something works! G

I'm better bare foot, BUT my croc-type slippers have a slight heel so will give relief if I'm having a really bad day.
Stretching, scrunching and keeping legs loose seem to work for me, so foam rolling and self massage in the achilles area.

Yeah, PF for me was odd and although quite sore at one stage it was never enough to stop me running ad then it went away. I get periodic twinges but nothing to worry about apart from once when I was on holiday and was wearing flip flops and also wore them a lot when walking one day. I now make sure I have sensible shoes on if I am walking anywhere other than round the house

I’m 21 months into having it and have sort of got used to living with it. Only in one foot. I have found that I’m better being active than inactive. Sometimes feel a bit debilitated by it and pain makes me feel a bit sick but not that often, it’s normally just first thing. It’s a bloody weird thing. I wear oofos for every single step I take in the house and never walk bare foot anywhere. No flip flops or wellies either.
