Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I can't remember if it was sore this morning or not. Just got up and had a walk to see what it like. Doesn't get any worse when i walk on it but the pain increases when i sit down.

I will take note tomorrow morning.

JHuff these are the heel pads I've got thechiropodist.com

They work pretty well actually, I did 1hr body combat yesterday followed by 7.7m run and my foot was great. Last night it was sore but I know it wont go away completely and it definately does take a lot of the impact. They're not cheap so maybe see if you can get them via your physio / GP? Thickness, you do notice your wearing them initially but now if I have them in my day shoes they're not that bad, and I dont get as much general aching as I did before so I would say (for me at least) they are worth it.

Magbag - good luck with finding out what it is, my understanding of PF is heel pain on first waking or getting up after a while sitting down, get it checked out.

Geordiegirl,

Thanks for the link and explaining. I hope you are also working on reduceing the amount of pressure you are placeing on and thru the heel via more optimal walking and running technique. I know you've talked about CHI and seem to be atleast reading about it. I think that will be just as if not more helpful than the gel pads. good luck in your running.

Has anyone had any experience of the 5-minute solution book? It has very good reviews on amazon but it seems it contains one "miracle" stretch and thats all. Would be intrested to know what that stretch was and save myself £11. Somebody mentioned it a few pages back but the link didn't work for me.

mmm not heard that one WW! interesting though.

Jhuff, I was out yesterday and really trying to concentrate on mid foot stike, its the reason I've decided to give CHI a go - it has to help if I'm not heel striking.

I did discover I had quite a bit of pain on one stretch of road where I had a right hand camber which really tugged at the tendons on my inner ankle - ouch. I cant beleive I'm even noticing camber on footpaths! But it all contributes to the injuries we have.

WW & GG - 5 minute solution book - advocates one stretch that has the best results from published research, not exactly a miracle but the best chance maybe, nice discussion of some other approaches too as none of them seem to work for everyone.

Have tried the stretch and seems to help, strassburg sock & foot flexing helping at the minute too, recent flare up almost gone.

After a couple of painful marathons at the weekend, my fizz has taken the pain away again yesterday and walking painfree today. Fizz is telling me to do a short run on it today, I have no idea any more what is the right thing to do. I get very depressed when I can't run.

I can't take ibruprofen as I'm on blood thinning things but wondering if I can still put the gel on.

One day this might go away completely.

Oh GF I so hope for you & all suffers that it goes, its an awful thing and the frustration that you cannot run is depressing. I found using a x-trainer gave me something to do and kept my fitness levels up, and I at least felt like I was doing something.

I managed to do Hell Runner at the weekend with gel pads in the heels and very pleased to report that my foot & left calf were both ok. I'm not pushing too much back to running, I'll stick with my classes, cross trainer & a bit of running until I know I'm properly fixed.

Good luck and GF on the ibrufen gel I'd ask at the chemist or ring your GP? Good luck
