There are certainly folks addicted to tourism. It's their time, so up to them of course. A bit like away football fans I guess...

Yep, hobbies that just don't appeal to "me" are difficult to comprehend. Train spotting, bird watching, fishing, sprinting, jigsaws, parkrun tourism. Each to their own!

I wasn't commenting on parkrun tourism itself, it was a comment about persisting with it through the depths of the UK winter when there are often blanket cancellations.

Really? A mate of mine and his missus booked a trip to Bressay for the first Saturday on January a few years ago. Flight cancelled. Parkrun cancelled. Lost money on hotel and flights (they could have flown later but they were going just for Parkrun). I'm far too tight to take that kind of risk.

Equally I'd imagine a Bressay parkrun in the depths of winter would be memorable.
