Yes, of course people sometimes target a PB at parkrun, and as Bazoaxe says 5k races are thin on the ground in a lot of places, almost certainly at least in.part due to parkrun offering free timed 5k runs. There's been a resurgence of 5k races in my area in the past few years. |

And sometimes a club will ‘takeover’ a parkrun by providing all the volunteers for one week as a ‘thank you’ to parkrun from the club for using it as championship event.

Interesting. Perhaps it's a regional thing. I'm aware than in East Anglia, anyone who is any good targets the Norwich road 5km. I think it has a sub-20 qualifying time
