I don’t think I’ve ever really had an issue with overtaking. Occasionally I might need to be more creative but given the nature of parkrun it’s not something that bothers me.

That said one of the last parkruns I did do I noticed the briefing - as it should - said to give way to all other park users but then one of the volunteers on the course was trying to plead with the slower runners to move to one side as they got lapped. He was only trying to be helpful though it kind of went against the briefing attitude.

Anyway I’ve not much to really get bothered by. Just my tuppence. And the attitude ought to be not to get het up by a few seconds delay. It’s like shouting at folk for destroying an attempt at a strava (😉😱) segment.

We advise our runners to keep left on the tightest part of the course to try to avoid potential accidents whether through overtaking or other park users coming other way.

Honest question, do people target a PB at parkrun? In my view it is a 'fun', 'inclusive' event. If you're deadly serious about time, why not pay for a chip timed 5km event.

I am beyond targeting PBs but I do target times and did target PBs. In fact that’s the whole point of parkrun for me.

If I want to go for an easy run I will do that.

Paid for 5ks on PB courses are hard to find.

I know guys from our club once went to a flat fast Parkrun to use it to select a team for another race. I only noticed because a guy I know was 5th with 16:00.

Wasn’t a member then.

Yes. But I also don’t do timed road races. Well, 2 in 14 years now.

I’ve also heard of clubs using parkruns as part of their club championships too.

The Blast Run at the Meadows has potential. Not a great time of day for most though.
