Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

That's a real shame bonners. For the record, I had spoken to Zorba earlier this week about the post you are/were referring to. But also, your post was removed because it contained an ad hominem attack, which was reported to me by multiple people.

Bonnets that’s not fair. Most of us are very far from being Covid apologists and it’s not quite true to say the trolling behaviour of certain individuals has been ignored. I’ve only been a member five minutes really but I don’t think your characterisation of the membership or the admin is fair, otherwise I’d leave as well. Other people said the same as you but in more nuanced language and their posts are still there. Not judging you because I can also be guilty of letting a handful of trolls get to me but it’s a pity if you feel it’s so bad you have to leave.

Maybe fetcheveryone but it remains the case that Zorba posts nothing but bile on multiple threads. I’m sure he’s delighted by your actions.

Based on your expressed behaviour, it seems their posts are considered appropriate. That’s the problem.

Being local to me, I've always found bonners to be a top bloke - very mild mannered - it must have taken something major to rile him to that extent. I must admit I've not come across anything from Zorba apart from his last ridiculous post re Welsh Parkruns and the

+1 for Bonners as someone I've met a few times in races locally. He's posted honestly in the past about the impact of someone bullying him in a position context so perhaps Zorbas comments triggered him in terms of what he posted. Ad hominem is rarely the right answer, but I'd rather have a forum of Bonners than a forum of Zorbas.

I totally agree that bonners seems lovely, and I hope he reconsiders his decision to leave.

Zorba’s most recent post appears to be a sarcastic adherence to the fmail I sent him, which in turn was brought about by a complaint about a post he made in December. This post in turn was relating to the Welsh government’s decision to pause parkrun. The post was not especially pleasant, but if criticising political decisions or some nebulous group of voters was enough to merit a post or person being removed, it would set a difficult precedent.

But the other crucial thing is that the Fetch forum is very big. I cannot and do not review every post. If a post is reported to me, then I will consider whether it is suitable for removal; and if that user does not then improve, I will consider giving them a temporary or permanent block from forum usage.

In this case, as much as I liked bonners, his post was most definitely beyond what is acceptable, and I received two complaints about it. And as I write, I have not received any complaints about Zorba since that initial one in December.

Fetch if anyone thought my posts were inappropriate I would like them to raise that with me initially so I could consider what I had said rather than go direct to you.

When I saw what happened I did look up the page to see if my earlier post had also been identified.

I’ve no issue with that Bazo. It’s totally fine to say “I think you’re wrong”, or “I don’t think that’s appropriate”, and then to discuss it. In fact, that’s perfect. The problem is almost always when that approach is replaced by personal insults.
