No need to wait and see .Nailed on that parkrun will throw itself under the bus and then remain closed for as long as feasibly possible . Just like the last time .

I wrote my Happy Place blog today on Beeston parkrun and Marina. If you think you might visit one day, or indeed are just interested, you can find it at fetcheveryone.com/blog/2274/2021/12/439741 |

My two planned races over the Christmas period have been cancelled. The organisers, rightly, decided it didn't sit well with them to invite up to 500 runners into different communities/villages at this moment in time. Just like many industries are facing equally difficult decisions, let's just hope this is a temporary measure. |

Yep, the local 5k run at Exmouth due to take place on the 27th has also been cancelled. The irony is that it largely follows the parkrun route.

Great turnout yesterday evening (150-200?) for our annual Winter Solstice freedom parkrun. Probably points towards a big turn out on Saturday.

2 metre social distancing reintroduced and outdoor events limited to 50 in Wales from Boxing Day. No statement that I can as to how long these measures will last, but it’s definitely no parkrun in Wales for a while after Christmas Day ☹️

Bloody stupidity imo and completely disproportionate. Just as it was at any point in the pandemic. Keep people outdoors and exercising, give strong advice around distancing (ask organisers to turf people out who don't respect it) and safe travel to and from outdoor sport, accept that the minimal chance of outdoor transmission is worth the considerable health benefits of maintaining outdoor sports (not just parkrun).
