Are you tongue in cheek there, shyfire? Hand sanitiser sourced and paid for by whom?
If people don't want to touch tokens they don't have to come.

I think if you are concerned take your own hand sanitiser, if you can find any.
So far we have one case in our area, they won’t be at parkrun. At the moment I am more likely to be run over by a bus that be in contact at parkrun with someone infected.

IN fairness, it's that sort of issue that might be valid reasons for big city marathons to think about cancelling as whilst all the runners might be completely bought into it, groups of sweaty, spitty runners being tended do via drinks bottles, picking people up off the floor, collecting gel wrappers, dipping hands into boxes of haribo etc might put volunteers and officials at more risk than the runners themselves.
I've got box full of sanitary gloves at home (mainly for putting on snowchains in the cold / wet so I've got dexterity but not wet hands, or for doing oily jobs with bikes etc), I'd probably be using those as a barrier if I was likely to be coming in contact with lots of less-hygenically handled materials at that sort of event.

Having done scanning, I’d definitely wash my hands straight afterwards, coronavirus or not.

I scan with the app - I don‘t touch anything except my phone - the runner holds the tokens and I‘m usually wearing gloves anyway

Don’t you take the tokens off the runner after you’ve scanned it?

I've seen some parkruns where the runner pops the token in a bucket themselves, so there'd be no touching (!) there.

Ah, I’ve not been anywhere that does that. It really is amazing how sticky the tokens get considering they’ve only been held by the runner a very short time. Ick.

Yes we have the bucket system and I‘m going to suggest that our token sorters wear gloves
