I am in a minority even in my own team. I flat refuse to use social media. The others bend over backwards to pander to people.

For me, the run is still the priority, not the sideshow. As long as I have the timers/scanners/tokens and enough volunteers, that's all I need. I don't need to nag folk daily on social media about volunteering, I don't need pop-up stands, I don't need gimmicks, I don't need picture frames.

Lydiard parkrun has a run report writer as a volunteer every week and I always check it out.

It seems that the photos now just go on Facebook, which i don't have an account for and will normally avoid unless I have no choice.

Saturday was a rare occasion when our regular runners were not heavily outnumbered by visitors. Really nice, manageable and sociable numbers most of us could even fit in the hut to avoid getting drenched post run.
Run Report - Gave up writing them a few years ago, larger numbers at previous 'home' led to loss of a community feel to the point that I rarely knew who was running or were writing about and I am sure those reading had little knowledge of the cute, personalised names we gave to certain points of the course.

Although few events actually do this I had thought that it was one of the 'must do's' to put the auto generated report onto the official website?

Most reports my current 'home' have are written by visitors ( for volunteering purposes ?) and all quite correctly point out the course is flat and not in a park :) We tend to have more of a connection with regulars via the WhatsApp group.
Interestingly a few of our core team were not even aware that run report writing was a thing.

Putting a weekly run report on the website is one of the must do's that Event Directors sign up to; it doesn't have to include the auto generated Journalists Report.

Looking ahead to Saturday - we're going to the cycling in Glasgow so (since we'll be only a 10/15 minute walk away) will be touristing at Tollcross.

I've gathered that its 2.5 laps, lumpier than most and believe it's road shoes friendly.

I've also remembered we have a lie-in compared to England. Anybody know anything else I need to know? Or anybody about to say hello to?

You are correct, CumbriAndy, nary a flat bit on the course. All tarmac except for the last 100m on grass. Home of Scottish baseball (you run past the diamond at the crop of the course). In the other direction are views across urban Glasgow. If time, pop into the Children's Farm and see the funny chickens, amongst others. There was a llama in the field with the sheep, but I couldn't spot it last visit. Pigs instead. If the main car park if full (unlikely unless an event is on) there is ample parking one street back (even if it does look a bit rough). A Lidl just opposite, if you need supplies.

If you think you can smell biscuits on the way round ... You are right :-) Biscuit factory is just behind the Lidl.

Thanks Dvorak - the extent to which we avail ourselves of neighbouring facilities will be driven largely by the weather.

Gotta love the smell of a biscuit factory :)

CumbriAndy - I think the word Undulating was invented for Tollcross :). To my shame, it's one of the 'local' ones that I've only done once.

Dvorak is correct with the assessment, though. A nice tarmac course (wet leaves permitting) so road shoes will be fine.

Where else will you get baseball, biscuits and llamas in a 2k loop :)

Home of Scottish baseball? I'll have to visit sometime. We have two events in Dublin - Shanganagh and Corkagh, which are close to baseball diamonds too.
