Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Apparently it's at a place called Futago Tamagawa.

Thanks, didn't realise there would be a website already! I'm sure parkruns will be popular there.

Interesting that "parkrun" is always rendered in Latin script on that website - it's a good job we don't follow the same approach over here for incorporating Japanese words into local use! I suppose it is a brand after all, so if the local script ended up with it transliterating into "running around in a park or other venue" or something less catchy then that wouldn't be much fun!

Plus apparently it's quite 'cool' to incorporate English words in Japanese. I was told by someone who should know.

Usually with a phonetic transliteration such as パークラン。Odd that they haven't done that but I suppose it's branding...

Think I've done a race along that river bank somewhere. Bit further downstream. You can run for miles (or cycle) on well-made paths...

Having been out for a ride today, and planning a short run tomorrow afternoon, I’ve realised my legs need a rest so I won’t be attempting a parkrun anywhere near London on Saturday. I shall instead be making the most of a hotel room and recovering from my evening :-)
