I saw some terrible buggy running at Crane recently. I was jogging round with a friend when a buggy runner in front clipped the achilles of the woman in front of her and didn't apologise. If that had been me with my sensitive heels I would be out of training for weeks.

I think parkrun was busy over Christmas generally and this always causes problems when you get a big influx of runners at events. I am busy in Jan with xc and volunteering and then hoping for a really cold February for local events to settle again. Luckily I like mud so tend to stick to courses where you get less New Year's effect.

I have over 100 different venues. I left the tourist group as it got a little weird. Never been a member of pdg I don't think, but do read it from time to time. It's quite interesting the variety of opinions. My latest new event was Portobello when I was in Edinburgh for the weekend. Nice event that. Small enough to be fun and fastish.

Asking people to start in order of approximate speed is one thing that gets people very upset over on PDG- it's very non inclusive apparently

Are those who don't like to start in order of approximate speed the same folk who are outraged at a faster runner, politely, warning them that they are about to pass?
One of our local runs, which only launched a few months ago, has a small lap first - and even before they launched I told anyone who would listen that it would cause issues, as the leaders catch those at the back very quickly, and on the narrowest section of the course. Those at the back, oftentimes, like to run three or four abreast, and oftentimes don't like the idea of being passed, so make themselves larger.

When i got to a parkrun, I just walk right to the front just before the start. You'd have folk standing in place for 10 mins before hand. I'll be warming up and just walk past them all and head straight for the front row. if anyone mumbles anything at me I tell them it isn't a queue, and I will finish ahead of them whether they like it or not. "Either I stand in front of you, or will run through the back of you. Your choice." I enjoy being a jerk sometimes.

I will tell backmarkers I am about to pass them, as politely as I can. Some still don't like being told "passing on your right please"

I tend to finish top 10 in my local but usually start 2 to 3 rows back and work through. I often get men pushing in front of me on the start line just before the off which I do consider rather rude but whatever, either I can beat them over 5k or I can't, a metre at the start doesn't make that much difference.

You generally know at local events who is going to finish ahead of you. We had 2 Olympians line up on Christmas day. I was happy to line up behind them
