Happy New Year everyone.

I’m one of the Run Directors at Hove Park later on this morning & for once, we seem to have plenty of volunteers.

#100 done within 14 miles overall. I dont think I will manage many before VLM now though as it will not fit in the plan. Hopefully will have my 100 tshrirt for run 101 whenever that is. I did see I got 50 in Oct 2015, but given I started parkrunning in Nov 2009, I have run the 2nd 50 in half the time of the first 50.

I sadly failed miserably in my plan to get to 10 volunteers before 100 runs. However I am down for a delayed #6 on saturday (I was due to volunteer on a cancellation due to weather day) and might volunteer regularly to get those 10 done.

Heard this morning:

RD to the assembled throng (before the start): '..and remember, we share the park with other users so please be considerate..'

Random runner to friend (at the finish): '.. runner! runner! I shouted three times but they didn't move out of the way so I just barged into the back of them..'

My 100th Bracknell pr at Bracknell's 200th pr celebration this morning :-)

After first doing Dinton Pastures at 8.30am. Over 550 there vs a 'normal' c.200!

Thanks to all who volunteered to put on these early ones this morning.

Oh dear, it was absolute madness at parkrun this morning. I was one of the Run Directors & we had over 800 runners. Unfortunately, we only have 700 finish tokens. I don't know where all those runners came from. I suppose it was the appeal of being able to run two parkrun's in one morning.

Hove Promenade started at 9:00 a.m & we kicked off at 10:30 a.m.

Our record number of runners, if I remember correctly was 630. So over 800 beats that by some considerable margin. One of the volunteers had to write over 100 runners names down manually. Glad I'm not the Results Processor today, it's going to take some time to manually input all of those runners.

People were backing up over the finish line on two or three occasions.
What really pi**ed me off was the people who moaned about being held up at the finish line & therefore wouldn't get the correct time. Funny how these people never seem to volunteer, but expect everything to run like clockwork. Still, maybe that's all they've got to worry about in life.

Oh dear David, I guess being the later starter meant you not only got the 'doublers' but the 'couldn't get up for normal parkrun timers' too.

If we get queuing threatening across the finish line we move the token givers back to lengthen the funnel, but it's not always possible to do that in every location I imagine. Shame about the complainers, but I bet the vast majority of your 800+ were very grateful for your efforts David.
