York parkrun today, sixth anniversary: 551 runners, lots of cake, cold weather. Heslington parkrun today, inaugural, about 4.5 miles away: 532 runners! Don’t know about the cake, but the weather was probably similar... |

Record turnout at Falkirk today, 324. Record by 18, on a day which was still pretty darned cold. 25 debutants and 20 doing a second parkrun. And my mate finally got to run his 100th, after missing out when a couple of events were cancelled due to ice :-). |

Has anyone on here done the Ham Hill course at Yeovil Montacute? Thinking of giving it a go in the next week or so. I have done YM and judging by the results posted of yesterday's race Ham Hill looks even harder! Also, can you count it as a new course |

LD - we tried the app a couple of weeks ago, same result as you - some fictitious recordings and a reset - we've decided to continue with the stopwatches for now. 653 at Tilgate today, 23 higher than our previous record set last week - we had a local neighbour (Horsham) cancel last week, but back on this week (at an alternative venue) - so very surprised to see the high turnout again. We also had some sad news at our pre-run brief as we lost 2 parkrunners last week Next week we are hosting the ambassadors, so we could be set for a repeat large attendance. |

Hunkyteddy. . I see what you mean...the ham hill course is totally separate (as opposed to a winter diversion). I went before xmas on the 'normal' one. Good fun. Might try the ham hill course next time I am passing through Somerset on my way to the rellies in Devon. Its quite a rain sensitive course judging by recent cancellations. Perhaps not one for normal trainers

Anybody done Bearsden parkrun? I believe there are hills, or one hill repeated?

You mean the parkrun adjacent to Bearden (posh suburb of Glasgow) golf course but named Drumchapel (large, partly demolished, peripheral council scheme)? Yes I have. Once. It was my highest ever parkrun placing (16th). Despite that, I haven't been back in eighteen months. Three laps with an in/out. To borrow a phrase I read recently, it is a parkrun for the aficionados. Each lap starts with a steep descent, then has a climb, a dip, an even more arduous climb, then a run down to the lap start. Due to the topography (it is run more or less along a hillside) any elevation tracks tend to be a bit out. On Tim Grose's runbritain-derived difficulty ratings, it is fifth-hardest in the UK. Something about those ratings: fetcheveryone.com/blog/5988/0/0#blog375667 A blog including my run there: fetcheveryone.com/blog/5988/2016/6#blog353624 Don't let that put you off ;-). Some friends included it in a New Year double before heading to the (hilly but not as) Tollcross. Mind you, one of them is doing a 24 hour bike race in the Highlands this weekend. |

(There are bears, but in the woods is probably the safest place from them ;-). They don't usually emerge until Saturday afternoon anyway.)
