I would still class that as dinner

The boarders (and some day students) would have “hot lunch” back in the dining room at lunch time. The rest of us just had packed lunch (or purchased from the tuck shop) but I don’t remember it having a specific name like “packed lunch”
um 21 Aug 8:46am, 21 Aug 2024 8,802 posts	0 um Nice easy southern breakfast, lunch, dinner here. Except as earlier school dinners & ladies, vs pack lunch. Tea - a drink with jam and bread (later afternoon) What puzzled me, when working north of the wall, was how fish and chips for dinner was always 'fish supper'. I've never heard of a ploughman's dinner!
