I thought I did well avoiding eye tests from 1987 till 2017 TD. I have noticed it harder to see fine detail in teeth I'm fixing so maybe time for my 3rd visit.

Interesting wee bit of research being quoted in the rags today. If you're a woman and want to maximise your prospects of living to 90, don't lose more than 5% of your bodyweight after the age of 60. And it doesn't just apply to unintentional weight loss, planned weight loss is also correlated with a reduced statistical likelihood of extreme longevity. GAINING weight after 60 is not linked to any change in the likelihood of getting to 90. Enjoying the reporters and BTLers efforts to shoehorn this information into current prevalent beliefs about weight and health. "Oh, but you should still go on a diet and lose weight if your doctor tells you to," say the researchers. And the bit about weight gain being neutral is not being spun as, "It is therefore OK to put on a few pounds when you're older." [Accepting, of course, that living to 90 is not everything, and may be less important than being able to fit into the dresses you wore at 40, or into a standard aeroplane seat.] |

Everyone should have an eye test at least every 2 years to check eye health regardless of whether you need glasses or not. Think about it, most people visit their dentist ever 6 months. Teeth can be replaced but eyes can't. *Steps down off of soap box* |

I agree with DQ. Also, diseases other than eye ones can be picked up in eye tests. |
