I am being reminded most days at the moment that MrsMM is obviously far, far, younger than me, since I shall be 60 at the weekend!

We're within six months of each other. ;-)

I had to read that twice, LG. Got it!

Extended, blended families, and generally more separated and divorced couples who remarry or cohabit do make for some pretty unlikely sounding relationships in age terms nowadays!

But then My F-i-L was a "surprise" baby for his parents when they were in their late 40s. As a result some of his nieces and nephews were older than him. Very odd!

One of the girls at school was always saying it was her niece picking her up today and we assumed incorrectly that she meant aunt.

Nope, she had a niece 5 years older than she was. Confusing.

It’s not a new thing really! I mean back in the day when my great grandparents were still alive they were having their youngest, a baby called Sylvia the same time my grandmother had my mum! So Sylvia is my mums auntie, the really funny thing is she married one of my dads brothers making her my auntie, too!

Ooh, that is confusing.

As someone with a strong historical family link to Norfolk ( ;-) ) I'm not sure I should comment about aunties spanning multiple generations!

My Grandma had her seventh child after my Mum had had all 3 of us so I have an uncle who is 4 years younger than me. His kids range from 17 to 23 and it feels a bit weird that they're my cousins when they're younger than my own children.

My husband's parents are from the same small village in Suffolk. I'm pleased not to know any further back than that !
