um
I've had 2 'jobs/employers' since uni (loads of holiday jobs pre & during uni)
- first one for 11 years, although it started as a privately owned company & then taken over by BICC
- then 29 years for the second, even though that went Digital -> Compaq -> HP

Have resisted 2 job offers since I retired.

I've found some photos from around 1973/4. I'm posing against the buddleia; Alice the Camel and me are dressed for a party (she got angelic white and I was the black witch) and then climbing a tree in our garden. My dad was very proud of his garden and enjoyed photography, but tended to take photos of his garden without us in them!

Bazo, the last time a child cut someone else's fringe in our school was last December - a mere 6 months ago. It was one of many difficult conversations I have had to have with parents in our current reception class!

All these people with lifetimes spent with one employer! I learned, belatedly, that my concentration span for any one job is about five years and then I need a change. Apart from retirement that is, I'm now on eight years of not working (only six of having any sort of pension) and I recommend it as a life style choice :-)

- my concentration span is also about 5 years - which might explain the 5 year age gaps between my children and the 5 years I managed to stay "retired" after I left GSK

57.5 Degrees of Pain
I am nearly 10 years in this job. Easily my longest stint working anywhere, or even in the same country.

I do have at least one friend who has worked in the same small building since we graduated 33 years ago.

There was a nurse called Beverley at a practice I worked in. Married a man called ...you guessed it... Hills.

Forty years ago today was the death of Ian Curtis. :-o Dare say there are a few teen (as was) out there in Fetchland.

(My first Fetch blog was almost called "Touching from.a distance", after having watched Anton Corbijn's film "Control"; about 500m from where i once saw New Order live. A parkrun course now lies directly between the two locations. The blog, like so many, remained unwritten.)
