Depends on your church, Chris! Ours has a bulge in the mid 50s, another in the 30s. Not so many post 60s yet!
But then, we're not Anglicans or Methodists. 😉

I was careful to declare that I was speaking for 'my lot' (CofE) only
We lost 8-0 last night. All the opposition were older than me.

Our running club used to use a local tennis club as our HQ. Both membership profiles were probably not dissimilar to GregP’s pic.
I think we were a little too sweaty for them though and we’re now much more at home with our rugby club hosts of the last few years.

Plenty of oldies at my (RC) church, but there are a few families with children as well, so the average may be lower than Greg's.

I think churchgoing and faith are probably a different thing these days, even compared to 30 odd years ago.
More honest for one. Most people who are there, are there because they actually want to be there!

Let's face it, the church going population is generally older as they are those in more immediate needs of their services.
Teennagers think they are going to live forever.

church... I was brought up dragged to church, I was in the church youth group and I just didn't get it - maybe it was the dragged approach.
My cousin (she's 38 I think) started going to church when she joined a toddlers group with her youngest and she is totally immerged in the church scene. I have to admit the community side of life and has some amazing friends as a result. When her husband tragically died 4 years ago the church community was a tower of strength for her and the kids.
I occasionally go to the local church they hold in a school hall most weeks, the first Sunday of the month is at the main church and I have to say the local church is amazing. Very inclusive, a lot more relaxed, kids are involved in running the service and they sing much more modern and appropriate songs. So if I do go on occasion I go to this service.

Hubby was forced to go to church until he left home to go to university at 19. I stopped going to church at age 9.
I was tired of listening to little old ladies stabbing each other in the back every Sunday...so spent the time practising piano. I was well onto my way to becoming a musician back then...

Northern Exile
When I joined the RN we were all forced into the same multi-denominational service, no matter what. This was of course during basic training, as you graduated to the fleet proper this was not enforced. I have to admit that I used to go to service while I was serving underwater, I don't know if this was just praying for deliverance or comfort From Above. Maybe I just liked the glass of sherry afterwards

Sigh
My Mom got me to go to the local methodist chapel until I was 14, after which I said I didn't want to go anymore, and she didn't push it.
She's still actively involved, at the age of 79 she's the treasurer and has been for well over 30 years.
