Am I the only person on Fetch to actually eat fried bread? I think I might have it tomorrow now.

Possibly, alpenrose
I blame all those funny foreign and artesanal breads that are too good to fry.

I'm partial to a bit of fried bread. Preferably done after a pan of bacon so there's plenty of taste in the fat.

Fried bread is fantastic. But these days it's not fried in lard so not as good as it used to be

Love brawn and haslet - but only the proper Lincolnshire version not the pink stuff they sell in sainsburys Boston Chine anyone - alongside pressed tongue another childhood favourite I don't get very often

I like fried bread, rarely eat it these days, love a bacon or sausage sarmie, Haslet is ace, brawn not so, but will partake.
Fried posh bread in olive oil is not bad at all. I see these modern wanker chefs 'toasting' bread on gridle pan, that fat lump from Yorkshire does it, Martin, the tosser.
NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING is too good to fry.

With bacon nowadays being mostly made of salty water, I doubt that frying a couple of rashers of bacon gives you enough bacon fat to do more than wipe the bread's arse lightly, like quimby described a few pages back, unless you add a load of extra fat to the pan.

Fried bread is a fine thing. Used to be a good reason to get a cross-channel ferry. Good breakfasts on the Dover-Calais boats.
