Yeah..I go for "dynamic" stretches/moves before a run an for the last three years been meticulous in stretching my calves after a run following advice form my sports physio who treated me for recurring calf issues. I do a host of other stretches quite aside from running in order to maintain general flexibility which is quite important at my age! Not toooo many and not yoga--just an overall top to toe.

Enjoyed badminton and table tennis but we didn't do them in school. So I never encountered the "line up and run round" described by Owlie. Sounds fun.

I became quite good at table tennis when I was at school. A friend's dad was a competitive table tennis player and gave us tuition at youth club. I surprised my university classmates by ripping through them in a table tennis tournament until I came up against the lad who'd been a county level player.

I thought I'd become tolerably good at badminton, but was properly humiliated when I entered a badminton tournament at university.

For the first time ever I did one hour of Yoga on Tuesday and it was amazing. Really highlighted an imbalance between my right and left side.

Yoga is enjoyable in it's own right for me and, like you DavidAP, shows up my weaker side. Since I have been doing my mobility routine on a regular basis I have had far less hip pain and greater range of movement generally. I am on the "avoid frailty" wagon due to being a bit on the "naturally small" side and am loving weight lifting. If I could just get my running mojo back properly that would be great! The heat is not my friend 😩

I played table tennis at "club level," before I took up running. I was a defensive player, relying on top spin, back spin etc. My favourite was a high looping, heavy topspin lob which looked easy to smash, but dropped before expected.

I accept my weaker side! If I start enthusiastically doing all the physical things I have indulged in at some time or another...yoga, tai chi, meditation, various complicated stretching regimes, swimming, cycling etc I would have little time to fit a run in!

I’ve mentioned before here how ludicrously right-handed I am. Always thought it would be a handicap at one point. That one point is now - as some of you might have picked up elsewhere I had an emergency op on Wednesday night to remove an abscess on my right middle finger and thus I’m essentially down to one (left) hand for the rest of the month.
