Couldn't find any of the described deeper pools on the West Okement River, so we were reduced to dipping in water that was about three feet deep! Nothing to add to the Fetch swimming map yet. We will try again another day.

Early morning swim in a local lake for me tomorrow. I am such a novice and generally rubbish swimmer but have got some decent goggles and now hand paddles to try just to get me thinking about my hands more, instead of kicking. I'm aiming for as slow and relaxed as possible 😃

Hope the paddles float or are firmly attached! My Finis paddles have neither property and I’ve never dared play with them in deep water :-)

In other open water news, we had a bit of an adventure last week in Ullswater on a very windy day. The swimming in choppy water (in an organised group) was great fun but it was a bit too cold for me to be out for such a long time.

Tried the paddles on my swim this morning and I was a bit useless and unbalanced with them. Did 200m then stopped. I did manage to relax my leg kick and not stress out at the weeds, which there were loads from the storm passing over last night. It was lovely to swim and see the sun coming up. :-)

When I said I stopped, I just stopped using the paddles. I did manage to keep swimming for another 1k. Trying to build up my crawl at the moment which is going slowly - 50:50 crawl/breaststroke today, which is better than last time.

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
