Is this is the first Olympics that has also provided a marathon event for amateurs? Seems a great idea. It’s on the same course isn’t it, which looks fairly challenging with a 13.5% section.

I’ve switched over to BBC for the marathon. Discovery has been great but one of their commentators is pronouncing ‘Kipchoge’ in a different way to how everyone else does, and I think it’ll start to annoy me!

There must be some seriously deluded people out there!

I want to meet the over 65s who think they'd make some of those very energetic sports.

I’m back to wanting a “normal bod” in lane 9 so people can actually have some understanding of the gulf between normal and normal Olympian.

Couldn't find a thread so thought I would start one.

Who else is off to watch or who is watching at home?

We're doing Lille and Paris and a mix of sports. Currently trying to find travel insurance that includes ticket cancellation as some of the trains in the UK might be difficult and we have some internal French trains to do as well.

Also need to work out the new Paris metro ticket/app combo (Navigo I think).
