Breaking.

Looks amazing, but not an Olympic sport.

What next - Air Guitar playing?

BBC showing 'breaking' now. It might be my age but it's certainly going in my Room 101 of Olympic events.

I was just going to say the same! Undoubtedly athletic, and if I tried any of those moves I’d shatter like a popadom, but I can’t understand how it is in and squash isn’t.

It's as good as horse dancing. Though that is a low bar.

Oh, that's a thought, what about limbo as an Olympic sport?

They should send all the B-Boys and B-Girls to bloody limbo after that.

Apparently it’s not included in 2028

Are we sure it was part of the Olympics and not a fringe show? The devil fingers and head spins to the tune of Horse with No Name by America could have been in The Young Ones.

SailorSteve wrote:Personal/unpopular view probably but Hassan looks like someone aiming to “medal” in 3 events rather than trying to win any. Which is obviously amazing but somehow leaves me feeling “meh”. Whilst I realise that the 1952 games is in black and white and therefore doesn’t count, I’m disappointed that Emile Zatopek hasn’t been mentioned in any of the coverage that I’ve seen. (Sydney McL-L is the performance of the games for me.)

Zatopek was mentioned several times around the 5000m final.

We've been on a flight and that had live OlympicsTV coverage from Sports 24. Apparently it's a specialist channel for airlines and cruises. Really refreshing to see neutral commentators giving equal weight to competitors from all countries. Also enjoyed full coverage of all of the field events in preference to chatting in the studio or watching the track medalists doing their lap of honour.

About This Thread

Couldn't find a thread so thought I would start one.

Who else is off to watch or who is watching at home?

We're doing Lille and Paris and a mix of sports. Currently trying to find travel insurance that includes ticket cancellation as some of the trains in the UK might be difficult and we have some internal French trains to do as well.

Also need to work out the new Paris metro ticket/app combo (Navigo I think).
