As a kid, way back in the 70s, I got taken to Crystal Palace to swim (or rather, try to learn, because at that point I was still a highly dyspraxic non-swimmer). I remember walking past the diving pool and being completely freaked out at how deep it was. Mrs Shanks - my clubmate Rose Harvey is running in the marathon. I don't know her all that well - I'm the club donkey and in my 50s so I haven't trained with her or anything, but I'll be crossing my fingers. Hope she's done her hill training - that course looks brutal. That was a hell of a 800m final, wow.

IdristheDragon 10 Aug 7:32pm, 10 Aug 2024 8,676 posts	0 IdristheDragon Was watching more cycling on discovery and there was a horrible crash in the men’s kieren. You could tell it really shocked the commentators. He was taken away on a stretcher and was taking his gloves off and I’m hoping he’s OK.

Couldn't find a thread so thought I would start one.

Who else is off to watch or who is watching at home?

We're doing Lille and Paris and a mix of sports. Currently trying to find travel insurance that includes ticket cancellation as some of the trains in the UK might be difficult and we have some internal French trains to do as well.

Also need to work out the new Paris metro ticket/app combo (Navigo I think).
