Great list, thanks, Buff Daddy. I really won't be weeing into a bottle, though. I'm not sure I could technically manage it.

Always good to have all your bases covered! You all are coming a long way for this race (and there's a lot of time to kill after the bus ride and before the race) so might as well be comfortable! Jolguk, obviusly the "bottle trick" was geared toward the gents (the bottle and trash-bag poncho make a discrete temporary loo). The key, (I think) to minimizing the impact of the waiting is keeping warm if it's a cool morning. You can waste a lot of energy shivering prior to the start.

Hi all - this is my first marathon and I am very "anxious". Done plenty of halfs but not the full one. The advice bd is brilliant! Been out on race weekend in NY with someone who was running it so kind of know the form. But with regards to mileage - due to do a 16 miler this week and following week, the Kingston running festival 16 but adding on 2 more. Friends told me to stop at 18 and others have said to get the 20 in??? Help!!!!

ck, if possible, I'd try to do the 20. I think it helps build confidence - somehow 20 mile runs do that for more a lot more than 18 mile ones!
Welcome to the thread, by the way!
