True about us being able to try the lottery, Buff Daddy, but of the 7 people I know who tried this year, no-one got in... I was glad I got my 209/Marie Curie place.
I'm smarting from my last 209 payment , Im convinced it was too much. I've only paid about £700 (to 209) so far. Then I have about £250 to pay for my share in an apartment for 6 nights (although its owner seems to have gone AWOL so I'm a bit concerned).
Still, the training's improving a bit. I managed 15.53 miles yesterday. It was supposed to be 17, but we misjudged the distance a bit. I was still knackered, though. Going on holiday is rubbish for marathon training.

Ok, I feel like queen decadence now with all my holidays! Theoretically I'm managing to do a budget-ish version of the NY marathon. Although I do need somewhere to sleep which doesn't feel that guaranteed just now. Which reminds me, people in New York will be up now. I'm going to call Mr Apartment.

The reason why I have not been on holiday since 2004: NY marathon 2005, Rotterdam marathon and Amsterdam Marathon 2006... no money left for holls
No marathon this year, so I am splashing out on a holiday in december
It is marathon time again next year though!
NYM is great, you will all enjoy the biggest street party in the world!

I am aware that the charity Well Child has places in the New York Marathon. Runners would have to organise their own flights and accomodation. The NY is a fantastic race. It was my last marathon and I travelled on Pan AM 103-just four weeks after it was blown up over Lockerbie. So I regard myself as pretty lucky.

Children with Leukaemia have places also (that's how I snuck in). Ran the FLM 07 with them and they were superb.
