Salomon Xa pro 3d. With or without Goretex. Keeps some of the weather out, & have great traction. But if you're going seriously wet, wellies. 😁 |

I use Brooks Cascadias for mixed terrain like you describe, with some on road and a mixture of trails and other surfaces for the offroad bits. For more demanding offroad tending towards offtrail, I like inov8s, but there are so many I wouldn't recommend one, you'll have to try some! |

A wise man who worked in a running shop once told me that waterproof shoes that actually work are only any use in snow. The rest of the time you want shoes that let water out fast.

Thanks for your recommendations guys, my problem today was doing 3 disciplines at different times on the same day in wet conditions, and only having one pair of relatively waterproof shoes, that of course got wet from the first. Those shoes (some cheap Puma Tuzon I think) worked fine for the first outing, but putting them on for cycling and running after was not so good, I saw a deal on some Adidas Terrix Agravic, which at least gives me 2 options, but I hear you that no solution will be perfect

Stuff your shoes with newspaper when you take them off. It’s amazing how quick it absorbs water. Alternatively when it’s wet just get on with it. And wear wool socks. Have you ever seen a sheep with cold feet ![]() |

I also like inov8 roclite or trailroc (cant see much difference between those) for mixed terrain. In fact those are the only trail shoes I have as where I live it’s pretty much impossible to trail run without having to run on the road too for some of it.
