I've used it with scouts a lot, you can zoom in and out and 'walk the route', you can even turn on the contours to help teach

I’ve been idly following the progress of my train home as it dawdles along behind a “stopping service”. Here’s an OS symbol I hadn’t seen before - the black symbol to the south of the railway line in the middle of the map. I worked out what it was as I could see it out of the window as we went past. Answer in the spoiler below the image.
