Not heard anything about Bingley, Jovi Runner, but would be a great trail route around St Ives Country Park - West Yorkshire needs an off-tarmac toughie! :-)

Bingley rumoured to be looking at Myrtle park, just south of the railway station. Not sure how far on the plans are though.

Thanks for updating the list with Felixstowe sLickster - I will try to find out a little more about it and update here if I do. I think they have got a route, applied to parkrun for official 'approval' and have a small group of volunteers but would like more. I don't know the area particularly well but imagine it could be similar to Harwich as in out and back along the seafront.

I'd be surprised if Myrtle Park itself is big enough - there is grassland and paths across the footbridge over the Aire, but the bridge itself looks too narrow for a possible out and back section. I guess as always it's watch this space.

I think the debate happening on the Friends of Windy Nook facebook page demonstrates just how delicate the relationship between parkrun and the local community can be.

It’s been really unhelpful Fresh Start
People have been asked to stop commenting to allow the event team and ambassador to deal with the situation but there seem to be continuing unhelpful comments which makes it harder. These things happen and the ambassadors help teams to build these relationships. Im hopeful it will be sorted out.

Ah OK maybe I didn't use the correct term to express attending inaugurals but it did you used to appear against your name in the most events list... So was clearly something that was deemed to be relevant and noteworthy...

I think most of us on the thread will remember that it used to be encouraged, indeed I think it was even a shortcut to getting yourself onto the most events list if you attended five inaugurals. There were even those from the top end of parkrun hierarchy who were regulars at new events. I also remember one ED successfully campaigning to get the biggest ever inaugural attendance. However times have changed, parkrun has changed and as we have seen it can actually endanger the future of a new event.

The "Friends of Windy Nook" appears to me to be one person, which suggests that the park could do with some more friends. And a parkrun is an excellent way of getting a park some friends, who might do things like litter picking, or helping crowdfund path improvements. I hope all sides can engage and work things out.

(Although ... from the pictures, and the defence that the paths were in that state before the run, I am actually questioning how suitable the place, or at least the course, is for a parkrun.)

I looked at the photos too, and thought 'That's precisely why we move to a fully tarmac winter course in our park!'

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
