Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Let's talk about inaugural parkruns after they've happened.

Any further ideas for a location for a Spalding event?

The new Poole parkrun is called Upton House, presumably to avoid Upton parkrun (pretty vague), Upton Park parkrun (too repetitive) and to differentiate it from my own beloved Upton Court. It does mean there's somewhere else to go for those people who are trying to complete their parkrun alphabets.

@Twilight Runner. I grew up in Spalding, haven't been there in eons. I ran thousands of miles around the town back in the day, and used to plot out potential cross country courses. It's slim pickings. The two places where one could feasibly attempt a parkrun would be the banks of the Coronation Channel (2-3 laps) or the Rugby Club (one can just about eke out a mile loop there).

Three new US parkruns launching in June, taking the total from 9 to 12. Big progress for us.
June 3rd: Deep Run parkrun in Richmond, Virginia.
June 10th: Heritage Harbor Ottawa parkrun in central Illinois.
June 24th (likely): Leakin Park parkrun in Baltimore, Maryland.

June 3rd is also the 5th anniversary of the first US parkrun, in Livonia, Michigan.

Paul Sinton-Hewitt will be in the US, joining College Park parkrun on May 27th, and the Deep Run inaugural on June 3rd.

One in Lincolnshire too, bit smaller than the other two.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
