Fragile Do Not Bend
I’m still learning to do cleans and snatches with a regular bell without bashing the hell out of my forearms :)

I always do snatches with a dumbbell. I can’t imagine doing them with a KB…

I have a couple of small kettlebells. Never got on with them so don't use them much.

A lot of weight lifting - whatever equipment you're using, is down to technique isn't it?

I think so, sharkie. I'm still working my technique for both deadlifts and squats. Mr Ness says I will always struggle because of the reduced flexibility I have in my hip. I think it's worth keeping trying though because I think it'll help me to keep running in the the long term.

Ha! They’re murder to start, aren’t they? I found getting the vertical pull as fast as possible & pointing my fingers to the ceiling on hand insertion really helped as did switching to sport style bells from hard style.

I’ve changed gyms. I’ve gone from what was the newest gym in town with a good starting offer (which I joined as I wasn’t sure how much I’d use it) to the Nuffield, which is almost next door. It’s slightly more but my Vitality discount makes it reasonable.

It’s like a whole new world. It’s not busy. It’s not full of teenagers and people sitting on machines while scrolling on phones. It’s not dark and doesn’t have loud music. The service from the staff is excellent. It’s got a pool too, though I don’t swim much. Heading to some classes tomorrow, there’s a bigger choice and more times for those too

I wish we had a Nuffield gym closer to us - they are good gyms.

There’s a few things missing compared to the previous gym but there’s always alternative ways of doing the exercises. Though I do miss the abductor/adductor as that’s difficult to replicate.

They have more floor space for stretching but not many mirrors!

I haven't done much weights work over the past couple of months. I have two main excuses:
P
1) Always less gym work at height of athletic season - it's maintenance if anything.
2) Three weeks - two of them consecutive - with full on dance class summer school.

But September - although traditionally track holiday - is also start of dance school term AND time for pre winter training conditioning.

All kind of depends on what I plan to DO next year. Not quite sure yet...
