Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’ve actually taken part in the Zöe trial this year and am still working with them via the app. I learned quite a bit about what to eat that works best for me and it was quite a surprise. My body deals well with fats and not so well with sugar.

In terms of protein the biggest takeaway I’ve had from lots of podcasts I’ve listened to is make sure you get 30g of protein in the first meal of the day, so that’s my main aim - followed by trying to get 25-30g in each of the other meals, although I don’t sweat it too much if I’m under.

Nice one cathrobinson - if I lived in the UK I’d have joined Zoë too. Keep hearing so much about how individual we are in our response to food, but am frustrated at the lack of widely available measurement devices that could help us all eat healthier (one size does not fit all).

YouTuber Laura Try has gone a long way with health analytics as part of trying not to be “skinny fat” in case anyone here has time for sofa sitting / TV watching 😇

We’ve watched quite a few of her videos too.

Even if you can’t do the Zoe trial, it’s worth buying a glucose monitor to wear for a couple of weeks. Nic just did that and I shared a few experiments with her that I was also doing.

For instance, I know that if I have some fats before I eat carbs, my insulin spike is almost negligible, so I’ll now sometimes have a handful of nuts before I have carbs. I’ve also swapped white rice for whole grain, as white rice gives me a high spike.

Interesting, cathrobinson, I’ve been thinking of doing just that. Like the idea of being my own science experiment :-) Maybe I could Fmail you at some point for the food schedule/regime you’ve followed?

My daughters put me on to My Protein. The clear vegan stuff tastes much better than other protein bars and shakes I’ve tried which all have a similar taste.

I got some peach tea flavoured clear protein from Amazon - it’s the only one I can cope with as it’s non-gaggy 😳🤣
