Chest day with the PT today. My armpits are already feeling a bit on the tender side. I have improved a fair bit on my bench press and flys which I found encouraging. He showed me a real killer move today which in essence is so easy but in practice is a humdinger! Don't know what it's called but you have a weight plate between your flat palms and press on to it to keep it stable. This engages the pecs. Start with arms down then with straight arms lift to chest height. I only managed it with a 5kg plate. Keeping the, pressure on the plate is such a task!

Been a bit quiet for me on the lifting front. In my comp update, I failed to mention that I hurt my leg on the deadlifts. Bit of advice for you all - do not bash your leg 18 times in one minute with a 90kg weight ;)

Huge bruise - which has now gone - but I still have a huge tender swelling under the skin.... Went to minor injuries on Sat as it had really swollen after a lot of walking throughout the day - hospital appointment tomorrow.

I want it gone - my legs are unattractive enough without what looks like another half a grapefruit protruding out of it :(

Been having weekly pt sessions for a month and was feeling pretty good about the increase in weights I've been doing. My pt reckons he can get me to do pulls ups eventually 😮 I took a wee look at the link, I have a long way to go to catch up with you ladies!

Tbf atm he is trying to even out my wonkyness (right gluten, left upper a lot weaker than right and also a slight right frozen shoulder) I'm determined to get stronger though. I will watch this thread with a bit of envy and interest.

Oh no Duracell - hope it goes down soon! I end up with bruises all down my legs/knees after deadlifts! eb - pull ups are one of my eventual aims too...

PT has given me a new strength programme (a 'proper' one), where I'm working to around 90% of my maximum weight in a weekly session for 3 weeks, then taking it right back to 60%, before building back up again. Have done 2 sessions so far, and squats are at 67.5kg for 4RM (still a bit scary), and 75kg for deadlift 4RM.

gosh that sound super tough! I cannot squat beyond 30kg at the moment - I struggle to get out of my pelvis, once I am travelling I am OK but the initial lift just isn't happening - annoying as I can deadlift 60kg!

Hmm would wearing squat shoes help Gus (raised heel)? Icing, stretching and rollering has helped me in the past running-wise, but still new to lifting.

Will be having a go at second round of weight block - got up to 3RM of 70kg for squats, and 75kg for deadlifts, and it was very nice to have a deload week last week, where it felt easy! First week of being back to 5RM lifts tomorrow, so thinking I'll try starting at 67.5kg for squats, and maybe 72.5kg for deadlifts.

PT had a new 'accessory' programme for me this week - lots of focus on the hips, and my abs and glutes are in bits!

hi folks... leg still swollen here but no real pain anymore. Had an ultrasound and there is no tear just fluid! I am resigned to the fact that it is going to take a long time to heal, so I'm just carrying on!

Finally got my PB up on my deadlift - and it felt like there was more in the tank.

Next target = double bodyweight deadlift- so hoping that also spurs me on to drop a few kilos ;) - otherwise that could be quite some time coming!

Fingers crossed, Duracell! My knee is still slightly swollen compared to other one after last year's injury. Massive well done on the PB! :) Double bodyweight sounds scary.

I'm worried I've strained by hammy/groin - hamstrings were tight after session on Sunday, and when I switched position on foam roller last night from right hammy to glute, something happened (almost like a spasm, then a horrible dull ache inside right groin/thigh). Eased off a bit, but still achy but better this morning. Until I squatted to lift some boxes at work, and it happened again :(
