Interesting and thanks for the book recommendation. I've heard avocado peels make a nice shade of pink.

A bazillion years ago I bought some natural dyed wool in Covent Garden and made a sweater which I loved to death.

This is the pattern, @EvilPixie . As its on 'tweb for free I thought I'd post it on here which will be easier than trying to attach it to an fmail.

I've done a screenshot of the picture that's on the first page of the pattern....

The second page shows the description of the four rows that make up the pattern stitches....

And the third screenshot shows the description of how to make the blanket. To increase the size, I think that if you cast on extra stitches, in multiples of 6 up to the size you want you'll be able to stick to the pattern...

Hope that is useful for you.

My son recently married into a Scottish family and all his groomsmen had their appropriate tartan tie. I’ve just completed two Scottie dogs in son’s and DIL’s tartans for Christmas, my first crossstitch project. The Malcolm tartan with so much navy and black was a real strain on the eyes, even with a decent light. Pleased with the result and pleased they’re done!
