I have seen his stuff on Ravelry. I have all the hats, scarves, cowls, and socks I will ever need. I don't have anyone apart from my OH, my son and his OH to knit for, and they have had their share too.

Anyway I am deep into this now ravelry.com in Drops Lima in off-white/cream because it costs a lot less than the suggested yarn.

It is very repetitive and verging on the boring.

I’m doing my first shawl. I’m really enjoying it..mainly because there’s no stress about if it will fit or not. That’s the angst that goes with garment knitting.

Over 400 stitches in a row now…PB is 26 minutes/ row

I am going to be inheriting my step mum's sewing machine and think I will look at making myself some summer dresses - where is the best place to look for patterns please (been a long time since I have made anything sewing wise)

I like Jaycotts and Minerva for mainstream patterns Mandy. There’s a lot of indie designers now and many of their patterns are sold as pdf files that you either print at home or send to a copy shop to print on A0. I can’t be doing with the faff and stick to tissue paper in envelopes

Yes I prefer a paper pattern, printing out is such a faff and I prefer tissue paper. If you’ve got a sewing/fabric/craft shop locally go in and ask their advice, they may carry some in stock but will also have a book. I find Simplicity patterns are usually good.

Before you start think about what fabric you’ll use and what sort of style as the choice can be overwhelming
