Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Ladies, there is a new show for wool lovers next summer - it seems a direct replacement for FibreEast
summerwoolfestival.co.uk
They mention reductions for groups - do the Bedford/Cambridge/MK contingent fancy an outing?

I am finally reducing my yarn stock but not sure how best to move on the stuff which I realise I will never use.

I'd happily donate the lot to a good local cause (I've found a good destination for the fabric I need to move on). Thought I'd check in here what you all do with surplus yarn.

Or is there no such thing?!

Depends on the yarn, SK :) Knitting yarn sells well on eBay, there is a group on Ravelry for UK-based destashers (or there was last time I looked, I've been out of sorts with Ravelry and ignored it for a while), and there's a fairly lively "Yarn Snobs" group on FB for the fancypants skeins.

(I need to do likewise. The difficult bit is choosing what to ship out. The correct answer is probably, "All of it, and your needles, and buy proper clothes from a shop.")

Thanks V'rap. Most of it is bog standard stuff. I'm keeping hold of the good yarn but making a rule that I only keep something if I have a specific project in mind for it. I need to eBay some clothes & boots, maybe I'll add the yarn to that effort.

Is there any yarnbombing groups nearby? Or after school clubs? Or ask your LYS?

I destashed a lot when I moved, including a couple of half done projects, I think I mostly sent to charity
