This is the only yarn shop I visited in the Lake District... we stumbled across it: crookabeck.co.uk

I've bought enough 4 ply Kid Mohair & Silk to make a jumper.

Lovely WL!

We’ve just come back from a week camper vanning! We stayed for one night at a place with some alpacas and I bought a bag of white cria fleece to spin (cria is a young alpaca and this is her first shearing)

Here’s a little photo! Alpacas, fleece, spinning alpaca on the wheel and I’m also plying purple mix bfl on the spindle!

Jelly…that’s a natty spinning wheel. I’ve only seen the standard fairytale picture book spinning wheel.

I’ve bought cria spun yarn from Toft alpaca farm in Warwickshire. It’s amazingly soft.

Winelegs..thanks for that. I’ve seen that shop advertised from the road…I will now pop in sometime

Have you had a massive surge in knitting and other crafts since the Tom Daley phenomenon?! :-) G

It’s called a Little Gem runnyeyes! It’s about 17 years old now and I’m it’s second owner! Nice and smooth to spin on but folds up into a small suitcase

Haha HappyG. You couldn’t get a better posterboy for knitting than Tom. We shall watch with interest if it becomes easier for men to pull out their needles in public.

Absolutely, Runnyeyes. I got a friend a copy of "The manly art of Knitting", just as he was about to retire. Luckily he loved it, and I'm about to go to his 70th birthday party, so will be interested to see if he has knitted anything in the meantime!

My mum always told me it was the fishermen who knitted.

I had a ‘history of knitting’ book for years that said men were the first knitters!
