I've been using 3 layers, all normal woven fabric.

I assume the "don't use iron-on interfacing" is because of the glue - maybe there are noxious fumes?

Perhaps the iron-on is a bit more difficult to breathe through.

I’ve been using craft cotton for the outer and inner.. and cotton t shirt( woven) for the centre. No interfacing.

It certainly muffles your voice ...not sure what that means for Covid transmission.

I reduces the droplet and aerosol spread. Plus I read yesterday that it's likely to reduce your viral load, so if you do come across some virus you will get less particles and be less ill.

Tbh I don't use bias binding a lot, but that means I don't actually have any! So need to make it. And the little gadget is brilliant. It comes with four sizes and a machine foot for applying it. I think it could be a good alternative to elastic for straps if needed.

I don't use bias binding much either, and the stuff you buy can be a bit hard. I like the idea of being able to make my own. I make bias strips for piping on furnishing (though not very often!)

You just cut a strip and feed it through and iron. I've not even been cutting very accurately

I saw a nifty trick with a safety pin or two and an ironing board for making bias binding, not something I've tried but looked good, I'll have to find the video again.

I've just beat my previous record on old stash material. I was sorting through another old bag of stuff, looking for material to make the wee bags previously posted by ?? because I knew i has some old jeans that I'd used in a tote bag pattern. Found the jeans and also some patchwork squares from when I was toying with that plus an old kaftan! Lovey blue and grey stripes that I'd cut down into a short kaftan saving the spare material as well. I wore this when I was expecting my younger daughter, who was born in 1977! It will be repurposed into a bag for her and probably one for me too.

I've been using ties on all the masks I've done so far, as I didn't have any elastic. Now got both a bias binding maker and some elastic on order, which may be overkill!
