Very nice blanket. Meglet, how wide will your ripple blanket end up being? I'd like to make one of them, now that I've nearly figured out how to crochet!

It should be just over a metre wide. There are 12 repeats (it’s the attic 24 pattern). The colours are designed to fade from grey to turquoise and back. I’ve done swatches and some maths so fingers crossed it works!

The husband of our curate has recently taught himself to knit and has, as his first project, been knitting a hitchhiker-like scarf for his mother. I'm very impressed and now want to make something similar (not garter stitch) as a present for someone in July. Ideas anyone?

A search for scarves knitted on the bias in Ravelry should bring up lots of options, many of them free, Helegant :) I don't have any patterns I really, really love that jump to mind because I'm not a scarf-wearer and try to resist knitting flat things that will just end up in a FO pile.

Mrs VJ has made a start on her next project :)

At least this blanket gets made in bits and is therefore much more portable in the making stage - the last two were made in one go. They're lovely and thick but did take up quite a bit of room in the car.

I switch between motif blankets (portable) and striped ones (all in one). My next will be a stripey one, Spice of Life blacksheepwools.com , I bought the “Ode to Autumn” yarn pack ages ago.
