Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Nice work on the BRIC-used C2, Nellers, and even better on the 2K! That's a great final split and shows you're very close to PB form despite the recent setbacks in training.

Happy to keep the same thread (or with a title update, if Fetch can do that?), as it'll keep all the useful links etc. in one place.

Sinj - that session looks brutal!

Chatting to our parkrun ED this morning and told him I was volunteering at the BIRC in a couple of weeks. He used to compete there: best time was 6.26!

Ye Gods, that C2CTC session sounds murderous. I have never seen 1:3x.x on my PM3!

Well done Nellers on a new pb. 7:20 is excellent going.

I think that 8:08.5 is as good as I can do for now, having been done in a well warmed up state. I'll do some more distance and have another go sometime, I think I have sub-8 inside me somewhere but not much better than that.

No exercise for me today. For some reason I feel lethargic and thick-headed. Maybe it's the change in the weather, maybe I'm coming down with something.

Not a PB Muttley, but significantly quicker than I expected at this stage of training. Another go in a month and again around Xmas all being well and I reckon I'll get a PB then.

Hope you feel better soon mate.

So no PB today but a better result than I expected. Here's a thing I've just noticed though: The PB at 7:16.7 was achieved at a stroke rate of 29. Today I was 1 second per 500 slower BUT stroking at 25 average.

We were talking on here about stroke rates and what's better. I reckon with some pacework over the next month or 2 I'll be able to up that rate to 26 or 28 and I'm sure that will be work a couple of seconds per 500 at least.

It's when we get to this kind of times that we realise how much extra effort it takes to shave a bit more off. A gain of a couple of seconds doesn't sound like much, but it's a hell of a lot harder work!

Oh, and congrats to the happy couple of Nellers and his soon-to-be new C2 (stealth black, I hope). Wishing you many thousands of metres together :-)
