I'd tend to agree, Foppotee. When I've not got a back problem moving helps, and rowing strengthens things. I haven't hurt my back rowing (yet!).
I've got a historic Sciatica issue that I had before rowing though, and I have to be careful with everything else I do to not aggravate it. Once it goes rowing isn't an option until I've got it back under control.
This time round I've pulled or strained a muscle in my lower back squatting too heavy (all of my injuries are self inflicted one way or another!) and, again, letting it rest before getting back on the rower is what's needed.
I'm going to give it a 10 minute test row this evening because it feels a lot better so hopefully I'll be back at it again properly by the weekend.

Ditto on the back thing; I have to be careful because of dodgy L4/L5 and L5/S1 discs. I almost always "feel" my back and rowing doesn't affect that, but if I happen to bend the wrong way when taking my socks off (or deadlift with bad technique) it turns into an acute episode and I have to avoid anything which stresses it.

Having been away it's taken me a while get back semi-properly. I did the bare minimum for the April Fool's challenge yesterday and today - partly because I was having to work around others' timetables. But today I did the WOD (4/3/2/1/2/3/4 mins with 2 min rest).
As usual I then checked the honor board to see how I fared against other heavy old women and was surprised to see myself at #1! It won't last - it's only because the US hasn't got going yet. But still a good feeling

Enjoy the glory while you can, SK. Last year I was first M60+ in a local half marathon. That I was the only M60+ on the day is irrelevant. So is that the first M65+ and even M70+ were a country mile ahead of me (they'd had more time to practice anyway).
You can only thrash the opposition that bothers to turn up!

well that was nice. 11 minutes of rowing and no obvious reaction from my back. I'll give it a day tomorrow to make sure nothing flares up and then row again on Friday for a slightly longer one.
I did kick the drag factor down to 125 from my more normal 136 or so which may have helped. I'll probably edge that back up over the next few sessions.

Thank for the advice. I did 15 minutes steady for a distance of 3.4 km as a warm-up before a gym session.

5k done at r20 and without any back issues. Feeling a bit happier with the world now.
It was surprisingly warm in the shed: 21C. Missing a week has made a big temperature difference!

WOD for me (6/3/3/1/1/1 off r2) - really happy with my paces, sub-2:20 on a 6 min piece and 2:06 on the final minute, much faster than I had in mind.

Nice one, SK. That sort of progress is good to see, especially when you’re not expecting it.
