Well the Phys has advised me to keep doing all the exercises even when it feels good, and I am, but that's more as a preventative than corrective thing now. It feels fine so far.

I've not really pushed the pace and power too much so far (sessions at r20 and some short bits of warmup at r24) but hopefully it will strengthen up from this stuff and continue to be fine as the plan progresses.

Good news Nellers, yes definitely worth being proactive with injury prevention exercises, something I'm terrible at 😳

Me too, the calf feels okay and I'm itching to get out for a run but I know what happened last time. Physio on Friday.

And well done to Scooby Dave for cranking out a sneaky half marathon yesterday!

Yes well done Dave, I had a look at that Summer Solstice challenge and decided it was too hot 🥵

Cheers folks. I couldn't resist the challenge but I'm paying the price today. Although I rowed in the shade in the garden, I had also run in the morning so rest day today.

Quick question though. Although I do lurk around here every so often, what is UT1 & UT2?

They are levels of aerobic exertion, Dave. UT2 is gentle plod in running terms, UT1 is still a plod but more purposeful. It works on heart rate. Good calculator here:

freespiritsrowing.com

My UT2 band peaks at 120 bpm, UT1 at 130 bpm.

Thanks Muttley. I've just been rowing either by feel or using the Garmin. This makes more sense now.

Did the June C2 Cross Team Challenge today - a 5k TT in 19:36, it was my first TT for almost 18 months and 70 seconds slower than my PB but pleased to put down a marker and something to build on. And I "kind of" enjoyed it 😬

Since the physio has cleared me to resume running very gently, I went for a brief jog this morning and yesterday after a bash on the rowing machine.

Is this what our triathlon cousins would call a brick? :-)

Great to see lots of rowing chat here. I'm back after four weeks away and have some time for rowing. Would have been back on the rail over the weekend, but I ran both days, for the best part of 18 miles, without too much foot pain, so that's progress.

Did some silly 100m reps today, trying different drag factors (still not sure the best way to do this), then a good hour of steady rowing. Have a bunch of targets, including a crack at the 2k, and a serious half marathon attempt based on what the Free-spirits predictor tells me I should be aiming for.
