Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Haha, of course! Two minutes.

6x500m, r2:00. Not enough to bring the heart rate down or let the legs recover enough.

Thanks Andy.

Went for a run yesterday and discovered my left hip wasn't happy about that last 2 mins at sub 2 500 pace (I was definitely just trying to get as much out as I could and form was secondary). Was fine to run today even though I could still feel it but tis a warning that I haven't built the conditioning to go hell for leather yet. Probably won't row until it feels 100% though.

Probably should have been rowing more regularly for the conditioning build over the last few weeks from a training perspective but the motivation wasn't super strong.

Happy that I generally feel decent and the back position change from a couple of weeks ago has had no ill effects, in fact it's the opposite.

Well, while I'm off running I'm getting in some more erg workouts. Once again gradually meandering my way through the Beginner PP. 4 x 750m 2 min rest this morning, advice is same pace as the 500m reps last week and no faster. I felt I'd overcooked them a little so was pleased to not only hold the pace on the longer distance but even throttle back at times to avoid overshooting. So well pleased with that.

Nice work, Muttley. Hope the injury is improving and you’re able to get out and run again soon.

18 minutes UT1 this morning for me which gave me nearly 8.5km with the warm up and down (4.3k for the UT1 portion). Feels good getting back to rowing training rather than just rowing, if you know what I mean.

Good pace on the 500s with 2 min rest Andy, I can't manage that pace with Pete Plans 3:30 rest!

Top of the league Muttley well done 👍

You're getting a good pace on your r18/20 now Nellers!

I enjoyed this video, Youtuber Mark Lewis trying to match Steve Redgraves 2k time (he decided to try to match Redgraves worst ever 2k of 6:15 rather than his PB of 5:48). His other videos are worth a watch too, quite entertaining...

I like Mark Lewis and that's the one that brought him to my attention Craggy.

Interesting. I note the bit about not overreaching in at the catch. Makes me feel vindicated :-)

Yeah, well, I'm currently top of the league because I can't run ... Still leaving the calf alone after it blew up when I resumed running too soon. So erging most days. The 7.8 miles that keeps showing in the daily champ slot is my 3 x 4000m UT2 session.

Forgot to say, I have seen Redgrave in the flesh. He's a large chap, only slightly smaller than your average semi-detached house.

He does make good videos!

Interesting clip of Redgrave on the erg at 3 mins into the video, he does look to be over teaching with a round back. Also noticed his seat reaches the end of the rail, mine's about a foot from the end 🤣

He's a big lad.

Lewis also did a running like a pro and cycling like a pro video around the same sort of time. Both are equally good fun and eye-opening.
