Redgrave's shoulders reach, not his lower back. His lower back essentially stays in the same position as per what I noticed a few weeks back with the pro rowers in the regatta.
Mark Lewis looks to be bending his knees early in the recovery.

Mark Lewis has all sorts of issues with rowing form! He overcompresses, lifts his heels, times his back swing wrong, I could go on.
He also rows 1km during a Hyrox event (an endurance competition involving 1km runs followed by set exercise stations such as rowing 1K, farmers carry, sled pulls etc) faster than I can do it fresh!
Makes me think both that with a bit of work of tekkers he'd go even faster AND that until I get my times down to match his I should cut him some slack!

Arms may be 20% of the effort if done right, but with arms like those you can muscle your way through technique deficiencies.
You gotta push not pull

Form can be analysed even if you aren't as good as it's not the only thing that makes you good.
The bending knees seemed obvious to me and given that means the back is happening later, probably leads to the over compression.
Lifting heels isn't a fault from what I've seen though (although over compression will mean they lift more than they should).
I hadn't noticed the back swing issue but timing faults in one area leading to timing faults elsewhere makes sense.

THe heel lift in itself isn’t the issue. It’s more that by allowing his heels to lift so much he’s “tucking his bum under”. His legs are so bent at the start of his drive that they’re far from able to exert maximum force AND his back is already tilted backward, eliminating or at least reducing a string back swing/hip hinge.
If he kept his heels down he’d probably fix most of that without thinking about it.
Once he’s then got the stroke mechanics sorted it’s much less of an issue lifting his heels.

And as Muttley says, when you’ve got his build and general strength and fitness you can cover up a lot of errors with power!

I think he'd struggle to go that fast keeping his heels down though and there's not many that would keep heels down at max effort. I get that heel down tip limits the stuff you talked about though and I saw it in the dark horse videos.
He tucks so early though that I think he'd just tuck less TBH. Obviously he's fit and strong so hasn't had to think about it much.

I watched his running and cycling like a pro videos during today's row Nellers - very good, and one about how he likes to juggle numerous sports rather than concentrating on one, if he did concentrate on rowing I think he'd row a low 6 mins as he's certainly got the build for it!
Had a great Fathers day today, I found out I'm going to be a Grandad - very exciting even if I do suddenly feel a little bit older 😁

That's great news, Craggy. Congratulations mate.
Mark Lewis seems to have quite a healthy attitude towards his fitness and a realistic expectation of what he can achieve based on what he's prepared to put in. He's also quite funny at times.
I got through week 1 of the "proper" plan then. 2 sessions of 18 minutes at r20, 2 x 11 minutes at r20 this morning, and an easier 30 r18 session. 4 down, about another 100 to go!
