Indeed it is TF, and thanks for the advice.
Yesterday it was trying to do a 500m rep inside 2 minutes that did for me. I need to build into that I think, but you're right. I should be able to get there.
Then again, by the time I get to 8 minutes you'll almost certainly have moved further ahead again.

So tonight was a bit of a sesh. 10 x 500m with 2 minute recoveries. The plan was to do all the reps at better than 2.10.
After I'd done the first one in 2.04 and felt fine I decided that I probably should try to hold that pace.
Managed it, end also upped it ont he last one to 2.00 dead. Right now that's quite a tough on so makes me nervous about holding that pace for 4 times as far! That's what the training is for though isn't it?
Including warm up and down that got me 12km. I think that's earned me some dinner!

Blimey Nellers, that's some session, well done
I'll be on the 2k challenge at lunchtime today, not feeling so confident now

TF has just handed me my arse on a plate - she's supposed to be stronger/ faster/just generally better than me isn't she?

Yes HB she is, but don't let her have it too easy

HB, she's just had more practice than you. You can catch her!

I use the rowing machines but tend to favour 5k as a good workout. There tends to be a correlation between how fast I can row 5k and how fast I can run 5k. 24:04 at parkrun on Saturday and the exact same time for 5k today on the rowing machine.

Well Nellers, i'm back from the gym and am not going to thank you for that.
I managed 7:56.7
However, it was by far the hardest session i've done in possibly years. My heart rate hit 184 (i'm 43), and that along with my lungs was the limiting factor, i just couldn't get enough air in.
Towards the end it was my hamstrings and glutes that started to tire, so that's where some focussed training will be going, which i think i knew anyway. delighted to say that my upper body was fine throughout.
Took me a little while to get up to the speed i wanted 1:58 or so per 500m, as i anticipated i would fade towards the end. As it happens i didn't particularly but i don't think i'd have made 3000m at that pace.
Anyway looking forward to tracking your progress, not sure i want to try again

Oh well done!ππππ
Thatβs a pretty impressive HR that you hit too, or pretty distressing. Not sure which.π
Becca, thatβs an interesting correlation. I wonder how it will work for me as I get more rowing fit and less running fit.π€

Also, it took me a long time to recover, longer than the effort itself
