Evening Oarsmen and Oarswomen,

So I've done a couple of sessions this week:

Tuesday was 10 x 1 min on/1 min off, 5 minutes rest, 10 x 1 min on/1 min off

That was tough. I was doing all of the efforts at well inside 8 minute pace.

Tonight I did 5 x 1000m with 2 minutes recovery. The splits were all a couple of seconds inside 4 minutes, so again better than 8 minute pace.

I'm a bit knackered. Not sure what I'm going to do on Sunday morning but it'll be another interval session. I can see it's working from the numbers I'm getting. It's really motivating being in the early stages of something where you can see such rapid adaptations.

I miscalculated slightly today but once I was in I stuck to it., kind of.
One of the sessions I've seen online is a pyramid building up to 2000m and back down. Thought I'd give it a try.

250, 500, 750, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1750, 2000 and then back down sounded OK if you say it quickly.

I managed going up to the 2000m but coming back down I cut out the 250m steps and just did 1500, 1000, 500.

Felt like a long way, especially with the 2500m warm up and down.

When I got home I checked. It should have just been 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 1500, 1000, 500.

I did bloody 18.6km! On a Rower! On a Sunday!

The air con is pretty good in there so it’s pretty consistent temperature to be honest. I was certainly sweating though.

Oh to have a Concept 2 of my very own! I'm using the local gym.

It was mad though. And bad mental maths.

I’ve suddenly got a “cunning” plan involving a Concept2, my patio and an interest-free payment plan.

Sshhh, don’t tell MrsC. ;)

I'm up to 120km this month. I've done 20 x 250m/90 secs recovery tonight. TOmorrow I plan on 5 x 1000m/2 minute recovery.

On Sunday I think I'm going to do another 2000m timetrial.
