I'm starting to find a routine - but what I think I need to do is to work out when and how to do a solid session - at the moment I'm doing like 10, 15 or 20 minute stints =mixing in with run, row, spin and swim

BUT I think longer term I need to add a big row and use it as a session in its own right

Saw some more very bad posture today and so I sat smugly going slightly slower myself to make sure my posture and method looked smooth as LOL!

thanks to all of Nellers vid links I think I "sort" of look gracefully smug now?! Hahaha!!!

The Dark Horse videos are pretty good aren't they? I've used the "10 minute build" session as a warm up the last couple of sessions. It's tough to get the stroke rate right, even following along with the video.

I rowed yesterday evening and this morning as I'm away now until sunday afternoon so that's definitely it for August and probably all I'll manage until Monday. 30km of rowing in 2 days. Feel knackered now!

Thank you Nellers but it's still too slow.
I'm going to miss my St Neots buddy this year - hope you're running soon

So I've just messaged the gym asking them if they can update the firmware on the monitors on the rowing machines. I've been doing my research and it looks like the update will allow phone apps to connect and read the data/feed workouts into the monitor etc. I've been looking at "Ergdata" which looks like it might be quite useful and interesting for a stats geek like me.

Anyone got any experience of this stuff?

I use Ergdata with my ipad (and sometimes the phone). I like the way I can set the PM5 to show the pace per 500 and then have the ergdata screen show watts.

I find that my pm5 connects up no problem. Also if I swipe to say the podcast app to make a change, the app keeps running as it is simply syncing with the erg.

I've also been rowing without my chest strap but i do have a Fenix 5s so what i did was connect the watch to the pm5 and then the hr can then show on the Ergdata app as well as the PM5.

On the Concept 2 website it says that if the PM5 was sold pre-2015 and hasn't been updated it won't connect to a phone by bluetooth. THe updates are free though so hopefully the gym will do the update and I'll be off and running.

There's also a £15 phone holder on amazon that slots onto the top of the PM5 so you can see the stuff while you row but I'm not buying that until I know the gym will do the update.

I like the idea of having the PM5 with, say, pace displayed and having watts or calories or something else showing on the other one. I also like the idea of having the power stuff recorded and logged.

Does Ergdata connect to strava at all Dave?
