Agree that swinging up an down from 1200 is hard - I use my base number + an average for the miles I plan to run in a week so that I'm not starving on rest days. Then any extra that comes from a mad couple of hours digging or soil barrowing in the garden or any other exercise I do I eat about half of what the watch or an app gives me. |

This is interesting reading Shades as I have a base 1100 and exercise cals on top which I base on hr and I struggle to lose weight. If I convert weight to kg it works out at 75 cals per mile not the 100+ my garmin tells me.Interestingly there is not much difference between walking and running say 90 cals a mile for walking. Lots to ponder on...... |

Not looking for an argument and I’m not an expert but... On Macros, I saw this yesterday which I think is great. instagram.com Mel is a (ex) Navy PT who is on the elite sports programme now for Bobsleigh and looks like she gets great results. On calories I agree Garmin et al over record but effort must play a part. Cycling normally has a lower HR and burns fewer calories. E=mc2? So to move my mass faster and faster I burn more energy? I guess if you have something that works for you - perfect! |

you burn the same energy in a shorter time TT - and I think the watches over record partly because they include BMR in the time.

Just remembered, awhile back I did numerous tests (was in the control group for Fenland Diabetes Study by Cambridge University), that included one test being on a treadmill with a mask and running/walking at various paces. The figures from there are not far away from the figures I'm using from the 'app'.

Went buck daft eating sweets, chocolates and pringles on Friday evening - just had a hankering. Carried on to a lesser extent yesterday. I have managed to put on the guts of ½ a stone this weekend. Body fat % from 12.8% to 14.2% 😳 |

It’s okay Paul! Reset and go again. I’m sure it’ll fly off. I’ve stagnated this AM. Normally weekends are prime weight loss days as I’m not trapped indoors and exercise a little longer. Remember the long game!
